Letter to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans + More!

I am gearing up for my trip to ICCAT and want to make sure all my pals are informed on the issues around porbeagle sharks in Canada!

My good friends at the Ecology Action Centre in Halifax, NS have written this great letter to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans asking that they stand up and back a proposal to protect the endangered porbeagle shark from being fished any further in the Atlantic Ocean. Canada keeps refusing the proposal. They are the only country against it and I just can’t understand why! Check out the letter to see what the good folks at the Ecology Action Centre had to say about it.

If you’re interested in the reasoning behind these demands, take some time to read Committee on Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC)’s assessment of the status of the porbeagle shark and see why it needs our help and protection!

Much more on this soon, friends!
