After losing the fight to keep MSC from certifying longline swordfish, I have to admit I got a little discouraged but I haven’t given up. In just a few weeks, I will be travelling to ICCAT (The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas) to speak up for the sharks and sea turtles who are still being caught intentionally or as bycatch in other fisheries. In particular, I am going to ask that Canada shut down its directed fishery for porbeagle shark, as we are now the last country that insists upon fishing for this endangered species. You can learn more about the porbeagle shark here. In the meantime, sit tight and stay tuned. I have big plans for the coming weeks and I will need your help!
